Agency: BAAS
Client: Sony Interactive Entertainment Benelux (SIEB)
Role: Strategist, Project Management, PR Support
For the launch of Rise of the Ronin SIEB asked us for full PR-support, including a review program, media outreach, press room activities and influencer activations. in addition they challenged us to create an unique event experience at SIEB’s office, captivating media, influencer and fan alike. Key take-away? Transport guests into the world of Rise of Ronin and make them forget the corporate space altogether.
Set in Japan during the Bakumatsu period (1853–1867), Rise of the Ronin offered us a rich world that we could take inspiration from. Our team designed an immersive environment that respected and reflected this historical era, working closely with a Japanologist to ensure cultural accuracy and sensitivity.
The office was transformed into a setting inspired by the period, complete with styling and little traditional details. To elevate this experience even further, we invited Owen Tjon Sie Fat to host a Shodo (Japanese caligraphy) workshop, offering guests a creative and educational moment that aligned well with the game’s cultural roots.
Over the course of 2 days we invited 40+ guests, a carefully curated mix of media, clients, influencers and contest winners. The outcome was better than expected. Guests really feel as if they were at a different location. And the overall sentiment was great. We gained over 500.000 impressions on social media content.
